9) What is my favorite movie?
Farce, definitely farce. I love plays by Moliere and Shakespeare, but this is about movies, and I can only color outside the lines so far before the answers become nonsensical. So focus I will.
As I posted before I am a sucker for the emotional ride of a disaster/save the world movie. However, if we are talking about favorite genre, then the likes of Moliere and Shakespeare still holds true, for a comedy of errors makes for the best of movies.
There are so many good ones but these are first five that came to mind:
Arsenic and Old Lace – Cary Grant is the master of this genre.
My Favorite Wife – Irene Dunne AND Cary Grant.
My Cousin Vinney – Marisa Tomei and Joe Pesci
Oscar – Marisa Tomei and a surprising Sylvestor Stallone
The Great Race – Jack Lemon and Peter Falk
I really disliked limiting myself to just these five because I could go on and on, but for the sake of brevity I decided to place the boundary at the first five that popped into my head. And each one of these movies has a cast that should be mentioned, but keeping it short is my aim tonight.
Still….I just have to sneak in a performance by Stanley Tucci as Muerte in Undercover Blues.
Okay, okay, I can do this. The short and sweet answer is:
I will go out of my way to watch any performance I can find by Stanley Tucci and Marisa Tomei and Cary Grant and Irene Dunne and Myrna Loy and William Powell and Jack Lemmon and and and…….to infinite and beyond!
