30A71554-ACB4-4A93-A14E-4EFD7A43CF0ESo very many more hoses to be laid before mulch can be added 😳 and patience applied, for it will fill in with time, and it is so tempting to plant too much too soon and not leave room for improvement, or the unexpected.

The oregano needs to be cut soon. Maybe this year I can find some takers.

My lovely little rule breakers. I relented with them, and planted bushes up next to the house. Still, it is only my rule and night blooming jasmine lurking outside my bedroom window will certainly spice up my life.

“And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.” Genesis 1:11-12

As I went out to collect the evening eggs, so as to keep them for myself, rather than to let the unidentified nocturnal egg poaching creature suck them dry overnight, it occurred to me, that we have been very fortunate and blessed this hectically busy year with a limited, but delightful, volunteer garden.

For this unrealistic, but hopeful effort…

Became pumpkins and tomatoes without needing any input from us. The end not showing in the photo has many more plants of the same, and the wild radish in the center provides leaves which bat bunny will eat from your hand.

One of the pumpkins is beyond the fence and is keeping me from letting the

Chickens out to peck away at it before it ripens. They may scowl and charge the gate all they please, but I will not be moved!

The old corn fort enclosure has spontaneously sprouted some hardy tomatoes, and since I dislike store bought tomatoes and therefore avoid them, I am really looking forward to eating warm tomatoes off the vine during my evening rounds.

We did however put the potted strawberries into an empty bed, but I am going to need to keep an eye on bat bunny, because she will devour these plants, roots and all, if she finds a way to get inside. It is not the strawberries I will be regretting if she does, it will be the plants, because my grandsons will be out here every morning snacking on any berries they can find, like I did at my grandmothers, and I am sure my grandmother never expected any of the ones she sent my out to pick to make it into the house either.

My cup overflows with the bounty and blessings the good Lord provides,

Amen and Amen.
