50:40 Comfort Food

40. What is on the Menu?

What am I feasting on today?

I have been looking at this question as it would pertain to food for my stomach rather than food for my soul, and doing so has made it be a difficult question. For I have had an unhealthy relationship with food for most of my life. I used it for comfort and stress reduction, thus in times of stress I over ate to the extreme.

However several years ago I began using a calorie and nutrition tracking app because I needed to loose weight if I wanted to stay mobile and able to do simple things, like not ever getting stuck on a public toilet for starters. This happened to someone I know, the fire department had to come and rescue her, yikes!

Anyway, as I tracked and measured it became apparent that there were particular activities that induced stress eating and knowledge is power. For with awareness mitigation can ensue, and I have managed to loose many many pounds so far.

Also what I consider most valuable for a lifetime of health, is to have garnered the ability to easily have a nutritionally balanced diet that is delicious, not at all skimpy, while still being calorie appropriate.

I am not on a diet, diets of only eat this, or only avoid that, don’t work for me. Instead I put in the effort over the last several years of learning how many calories are in what I like to eat, and learning to be able to eyeball the serving size that will give me satisfaction. I eat a lot and I am never hungry, which for me is a must. I truly dislike being hangry.

So back to the original question. What am I feasting through today? How am I watering my soul?

Well let me see: books, sermons, studies, and of course the Word of the Lord my Bible. I am truly blessed to be able to spend a couple of hours each morning satiating myself in the pursuit of knowledge of the Almighty. Intertwined in this feast is a delicious prayer time of communion with the Lord.

So sweet, so lovely, such a gift; the icing on the cake of my salvation.

‘Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever, Amen.”

Revelation 7:12

“Speak therefore. Lord, for Your servant listens, “Thou hast the words of eternal life.” Speak to me for the comfort of my soul and for the amendment of my life, for Your praise, Your glory, and Your everlasting honor.”
